Homework Assignments for Kindergarten Students
**Parents will be required to print all homework sheets starting Monday October 4th.**
Homework Assignments will be posted on Sunday evenings. Kindergarten students should not complete any part of the homework assignment until Monday. The homework assignment is meant to be a review of what is taught in class (with the exception of the Tuesday/Thursday students). Please have your child complete the homework daily. Only complete what is assigned on the Homework Description. Parents please do not have your child work ahead or complete the entire weeks worth of homework in one day.June 20th- June 30th

The children have now learned all the letter names and sounds of the alphabet. Over the next week the students will be tested on the grapheme names and sounds as classroom teachers are assessing for report cards. If your child is struggling please continue to review the names and sounds as part of the nightly homework. Homework will continue for the next three weeks of school. The last week will be posted June 13th- June 17th. Please ensure that your child is completing all activities assigned as homework is an expectation of the TLC program.

Children are to draw items that have the letter 'x' in the middle or end of the word, not at the beginning (e.g. fox, box, exit sign, pixie). Please DO NOT draw a xylophone. January 17th-21st
This week the children will begin learning sight words. Each week three sight words will be assigned. The sight words can be found on the right hand side of the BLOG under the heading 'Sight Words'. A sight word is a word that cannot be sounded out. It is a word that your child will have to memorize. As part of the homework please review the sight words nightly with your child. Flashcards can be printed, so you can use these flashcards as a means to help your child memorize the words. The link for the flashcards has also been posted with the sight words. . If you have questions regarding the sight words please contact your child's classroom teacher.

The homework duotang should be returned to the school in your child's plastic folder on the days that your child attends school. The kindergarten teachers would like to check the children's homework throughout the week so, if your child is in the Monday/Wednesday group your child will bring their homework on Monday/Wednesday/Friday. If your child is in the Tuesday/Thursday group your child will bring their homework on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday. If you have questions please contact your child's classroom teacher.

**Parents please ensure that the printing page is hole punched and placed into the duotang. Do not place the homework description in the duotang.**
PARENT REMINDERS
Please make sure that your child's homework is returned in their plastic folder on the days that they attend school (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thus). Classroom teachers will periodically check the homework assignments throughout the week. Plastic folders and homework will be collected from the kindergarten students who attend on Friday.
Parents please ensure that your child is using a pencil to complete the written portion of the homework (NOT markers or pen) and crayons for any colouring that is assigned (NOT markers). We want to encourage the children to use the same materials that are being used at school.
Reminder that homework is only for the kindergarten students. Parents please do not complete any portion of the assignment for your child. If your child is struggling with printing or drawing, parents are being encouraged to use a separate piece of paper to model how it can be done.
