About Le Roi Daniels

Le Roi Daniels School

School Mission

The Traditional Learning Centre uses teacher-directed instruction and character education to foster reflective thinking, continuous learning and responsible citizenship. It is a celebration of cultural diversity and commonly held values. The virtues-oriented school environment prepares students to meet the moral, technological and global challenges of the 21st century.

School Motto
To think, to value, to know is our motto.

To Think – reflectively, critically, creatively
To Value – ourselves, others, the environment, our education
To Know – We value knowledge; we are all lifelong learners

The crest shows the Rocky Mountains which represent Alberta.
The eagle is our mascot and it symbolizes strength, courage and farsightedness.
The book represents learning and knowledge.
The lotus flower grows in any kind of soil, in many adverse conditions and thus represents perseverance to succeed.

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all the work that goes on in our school, but rather focuses on specific areas for improvement.

About Our Teachers

Ms. Blue

My name is Alyssa Blue and I am very excited to be a part of the Le Roi Daniels Kindergarten team this year. I look forward to teaching your children and learning from them as they start their schooling career.

I grew up on the East Coast and pursued my education there before starting my teaching career and moving to Calgary in 2019. In 2018, I graduated from my Bachelor of Education degree at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Prior to that, I completed a Bachelor of Science at Saint Mary's University and a certificate in Deaf Studies from Nova Scotia Community College. Upon completing my B.Ed. I worked for a year teaching a Grade 3/4 combined class.

In the summer of 2019 I moved to Calgary to continue my teaching journey. This will be my second year at Le Roi Daniels and I am so excited to be a part of the kindergarten team again!

I have a passion for working with children and have spent many summers as a camp counsellor, helping children (and adults) with exceptionalities explore their interests.

Currently, I spend my spare time volunteering at the Calgary Zoo, where I love hanging out with and learning more about the penguins, as well as volunteering with Girl Guides of Canada as a leader in a Spark/Brownie unit.

Please feel free to contact me at aeblue@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions or concerns.

Mrs. Mancini

My name is Shauna Mancini and I am excited to be back teaching Kindergarten with the amazing team at Le Roi Daniels Elementary. I love being involved with our littlest learners in the school and can't wait to learn all about the students in my class this year.

I have been teaching Kindergarten at Le Roi Daniels for the past 14 years and am very fortunate to have worked with amazing staff, students and parents over the years. I graduated from the University of Calgary with both a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Degree in Education specializing in Early Childhood Education. My passion is working with early learners because of their joy and excitement for learning.

I was born and raised in Calgary. I enjoy baking, crafting, shopping, celebrating holidays and spending time with my husband and three beautiful children. My family is a very important part of my life.

I look forward to working with you in helping your child experience a successful year of learning in the TLC Kindergarten Program. The growth you see in your child over the school year will truly amaze you. We have lots of fun activities and learning opportunities planned.

Ms.Stieger

Hello my name is Kiersten Stieger and I'm so excited to be a part of the Le Roi Daniels Kindergarten team this year! This is my third year teaching Kindergarten here and I look forward to continue to work with our youngest students to support them in this important year of their learning.

I enjoy spending time with my family, having just returned from maternity leave after having my daughter, now one year old. I also have a 4 year old daughter who is at such a special and fun age!  I feel lucky to get to work with many more students around this age who I can support and I can also learn a lot from as well. I grew up in Bragg Creek just west of Calgary in the foothills of the rocky mountains. Growing up in this environment gave me a love for nature and exploring my surroundings which I try to infuse into my classroom. I have a background in Art, completing my Fine Art degree from the University of Lethbridge before completing my Bachelor of Education degree. I try to foster art and creativity in learning wherever possible! In my spare time, crafty things such as knitting and relaxing enjoying a good book are my favourite things to do. Spending quality family time is also important and we spend lots of time hanging out at the family cabin.

Kindergarten is an exciting and monumental time in life and I'm so happy I get to be a part of it! I'm looking so forward to supporting your child this year in their learning and can't wait for all the fun we will have!

If you have any questions you can always email me at klstieger@cbe.ab.ca and I will be more than willing to provide any help I can and get back to you within 24 hours.
