Winter Birch Trees!
The students in Room 9 have been learning a lot about the season of winter! They have worked hard following instructions to create these beautiful Winter Birch Trees. First they had to paint the background using cool colours that reminded us of a cold winters day!
Then they added the black parts of the tress using a crayon, outlining each tree shape and creating a birch design. Lastly they painted he shadow on the trees, making sure they put the shadow on the right side! After carefully following all of the instructions, they turned out absolutely fabulous! great job Room 9!

Patterned Painted Owls
The students in Room 9 have been finishing up their science unit on Nocturnal Animals byt learning about Owls! They learned lots of fun facts and made these brightly painted owls! The students even added some math by making their feathers into a pattern of colours. Ask you child what pattern they made on theirs!

Remembrance Day Poppies
The students learned about Remembrance Day and made these beautiful Poppies to observe the day and think about all the soldiers that have fought for peace. My apologies over the quality of photos, it's hard to get a good shot through a window with the reflection! Even though, these poppies look fantastic in real life and remind us how much we cherish the peace we have and the people that have fought for it.
Fall Trees
As we near the end of Fall, the kindergarten students in Room 9 studied Fall Trees and made their own art piece!
First they made a beautiful watercolour background. Then they drew the trunk and branches of the tree using a Sharpie marker, and finally they used the artistic technique of Pointillism to create the wonderfully colourful leaves on their trees. With Pointillism, the artist uses small dots of paints to build the picture. In this case they used a Q-tip to dot on their leaves. The results were so pretty!

Thankful Turkeys
The students created these beautiful and unique turkeys after we had discussed Thanksgiving and all the things we were thankful for.
MOnday/ Wednesdsay Class
The students have been busy learning the classroom rules and expectations of school and have enjoyed listen to the No David! books by David Shannon. We have talked about good choices and poor choices and they have done an excellent job being able to tell what is expected behaviour at school. To practice their colouring, cutting and gluing, as well as following step by step directions, the students complete these 'David' crafts! I love how each one is different and they were able to add their own reminders of expect and unexpected behaviour at school.
Some students are still busy completing these and I will be sure to add them when they do!
