Our Favourite Day of the Year
As part of Kindergarten Social Studies, students in Kindergarten are learning about what makes them unique. Over the next few weeks students will be talking about their favourite day of the year and recognizing that our different cultural celebrations are part of what makes us unique. To help with this conversation, the Kindergarten teachers are asking for your help.
Please have a conversation with your child about what their favourite day of the year is. This could be a cultural celebration (Diwali, Christmas, Ramadan, Eid, etc) or another special day that they like (their birthday, Halloween). Once you have spoken with your child, please send in a photo of your child celebrating that special occasion! You can email your child's teacher a photo if you like and we can print it at school. It could be an old photo from a past celebration, or you are welcome to have your child dress in their traditional clothing and take their photo.
Please email your child's teacher a photo of your child celebrating a special occasion by November 29th. In the email, please include a brief note about what your child is celebrating in the photo. We will be doing sharing circles in class to allow each child the opportunity to share their photo with their classmates. These photos will also be displayed in the school for the month of December as a special bulletin board the Kindergarten teachers are putting together.
Thank you so much for your support! We look forward to meeting with you this Thursday or Friday for Parent Teacher Interviews!
